David Elbert is the Acting Program Director for Environmental Studies in the Advanced Academic Programs at Johns Hopkins. He also teaches the Environmental Communications class and is faculty advisor for JHENS. David is a geologist whose background includes geological mapping, structural interpretation and petrological investigation of portions of the New England Appalachian Mountains. As an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Hopkins, his current research centers on application and development of modern techniques of electron microscopy, synchrotron X-ray methods and neutron scattering to problems of environmental mineralogy and crystal chemistry.
